compactaudio cds
Description
The objective of this project was to create a product, package it, and learn a new skill in the process. I made a set of two lo-fi beats using loops while exploring new software and learning the basics of music production.
The concept behind the project is that a pair of old CDs were discovered at a garage sale or tucked away in an attic. The songs were unmarked, with hand-drawn doodles on the covers and no indication of who made them. The CDs are designed to look like vintage blank discs from a fictional company called COMPACTAUDIO. This project connects to both the Audio Formats and Instructional Tape projects through the branding, its nostalgic aesthetic and focus on physical media.
The tracks themselves, Clouds and Forest, were created in BandLab using loops. The goal was to make each beat reflect the mood of its title. Clouds is light and airy, while Forest is moodier and more sombre.
